The Nigerian champions will now play their Champions League game on the weekend of March 20-22 instead of 14 March following last weekend's armed robbery attack
Kano Pillars have been given a lifeline by Caf as their Champions League game against Moghreb Tetouane has been postponed by a week following the armed robbery attack that left five players injured last Thursday.
In a series of tweets via the club's official account on Monday night, Sai Masu Gida confiirmed that the game against the Moroccan side has been shifted by a week.
"Caf Champions League Committee has postponed our Ist leg match against MA Tetouane of Morocco for one week," the club tweeted.
"The March 14th game is now scheduled to be played on 20, 21, or 22 of March. The match has been postponed due to the attack on the team."
It means that the Nigerian champions would be able to rest and hope to recover for the first round, first leg game after last week's attack in Abaji on the outskirts of Abuja which left five players with varying degrees of injuries. Pillars were headed to Owerri to face Heartland.
The match would now be played on the weekend of 20-22 March as against the previous date of 14 March.
Striker Gambo Mohammed, Eneji Otekpa, Reuben Ogbonaya, Moses Ekpai and Murtala Adamu were injured in the attack.
Team doctors have said that Gambo would require surgery while three of the players were discharged on return to Kano last weekend.
The NPFL champions are yet to start their domestic campaign as their opening match against Heartland has been postponed indefinitely.
